Last Straw-Bri
2004

Blessings Full Body Last Straw-Bri's Pedigree

Last Straw-Bri (stable name is "Blessing") was sired by the deceased C.S.H.A. Westphalian Dressage Champion, Bri-Mel's Rhum from Alberta.  His dam is the recently sold chestnut Trakehner mare, Leonessa. There are a number of reasons for giving him his registered C.S.H.A. name. The breeding to Leonessa was done using A.I. but we only had two straws.  It took our "last straw" to get the mare in foal and at that time the stallion had already passed away. There was no hope of us getting any more straws from him. Also, Blessing looks like a strawberry roan (his sire was a rose grey) but he may still grey out as he matures more. Since his sire had "Bri" in his name, we thought it appropriate to include that in Blessing's registered name so it almost sounds like "last strawberry"(roan by this stallion).

**UPDATE** - September /08

"Blessing" has received his under saddle training by Twinholm Stable and is now beginning some dressage training with Eugene Werth, originally from Switzerland. He may be seen this winter at a local stable. Just call if you wish to view him. A video will be available soon.

This 3 year old gelding has some wonderful breeding in his dam's pedigree. Leonessa was sired by Target, a half brother to Abdullah (Olympic jumping stallion originally from the Schickendanz farm, Galten Farms). Both Abdullah and Target were sired by Donauwind who in turn was sired by Pregel, a dressage stallion. Leonessa shares bloodlines with the Olympic calibe eventer mare,  Larissa,  from Long Lane Farm that attended the 2000 and 2004 Olympics under Bruce Gregory Mandeville. Larissa is also sired by Target. Blessing is presently standing over 16 hh but should continue to mature to at least 16.2 or more. With Westphalian in his breeding, he was quite gangly in the Spring and has maintained a "baby" mentality (that of a two year old) this year so should be started next January.
